KAO and Green Circle Salons join forces. Currently, 50%–60% of the waste produced by salons is not recycled, and that has to change! So start today with recycling hair, aluminum foil, color tubes, and leftover color, while saving water and energy.
Over 16 000 hairdressers have already embraced this initiative. You too?

You collect the waste, we give it a second life
You collect the hair, colouring residues and aluminium from your hair salon, we do the rest. This way, you can easily give up to 90% of your waste a second life. Wondering how we recycle it? Click below.

Hair
Cut hair is stored in a separate box. Once it’s full, we come to collect it and it is sorted at Westlandia, a sheltered workshop in Ypres, Belgium. Afterwards, the hair is used to make, among other things, hair mats. We are also exploring the possibility of processing hair into combs, acoustic panels, and more.

Colouring
Pouring your hair color down the sink harms water quality. By keeping it separate, you already make a significant difference. We convert the collected hair color into clean energy by burning it in a controlled way.

Aluminium
After the salon collects the hair and aluminum foils and Westlandia sorts them, the aluminum foils are disinfected by Vanheeden (a waste processor). This ensures that the aluminum can be endlessly recycled through the regular process.
